Coop Care Essentials
If a dust bath area has not been provided, your chickens may search out a suitable area for themselves.
Old tires, kitty litter pans, sand boxes, shallow bins, kiddie pools, and wooden crates work well for creating a dust bath area.
It is best to keep the dust bath area under a covered area away from rain and snow.
Free Range
Your f chickens will naturally scratch out a depression in the dirt. Or you can create an area suitable for dust bathing. Fill 3-4" deep with a mixture of any of the following:
- loamy dirt or sand & Fresh Coop Dust Bath (50/50)
- peat moss & Fresh Coop Dust Bath (50/50)
- Fresh Coop Dust Bath (100)
